Beginning Surf Lessons Hawaii
At Ken Bradshaw Hawaiian Surf School, we begin the first lesson by teaching the basics of surfing, like water safety, surfing etiquette, wave dynamics, how to paddle a surfboard, how to catch a wave, as well as, how to stand up and ride a wave. Each of our surf lessons operate with its unique focus, however our beginner surfing lessons emphasize safety and the basic surfing fundamentals.
As the ocean can be scary and overwhelming for some beginning surfers, the all important foundations of paddling, body positioning, safety and etiquette are initially discussed on the beach. We then take our beginner surf lesson to Oahu’s many safe small wave surfing coves and help you catch your first waves! Our ever patience surf instructors are there all the while constantly providing feedback so that you can improve faster and gain enough confidence and awareness to surf by yourself as soon as possible.
The fundamentals are taught by a number system creating “muscle memory” skills in paddling and standing as essential to successful surfing.
Each daily beginner surf lesson starts with a dynamic stretching routine to prepare your muscles and joints for the tasks to follow. Once your body is warmed up our beginner surf lesson moves on to teaching practical surfing skills in bite size lessons, making the complete lesson plan easier for you to process and remember. Every beginner surf lesson is hands-on with Ken Bradshaw and our team of thoroughly experienced surf instructors.
At Ken Bradshaw’s Hawaiian Surf School, all beginner surfing lessons are taught by qualified surf instructors that are also experienced lifeguards. All surfing instructors are approved by the Red Cross and ISA trained and certified. We have the best surf instructors that are dedicated to making learning how to surf safe and fun for you.
